A frame of 4

June 28, 2015 Haejin Cho

My new thing for the new house is being minimalistic and monochromatic.

Not that we had lots of colors in our current house, but due to Torin's toys all over the house, and having annoying red walls in the kitchen, the house never looked "curated" as my liking. But now, I have all this time till the move, I am revisiting what we have and see if I can make everything monochromatic, simple black and white. The new house has enough wooden elements, so "stripping" colors off from the extra elements wouldn't make the house too sterile, well, that is what I hope.

One of my minor projects in the big goal of being monochromatic was this picture frame. We have a picture frame of 4 squares, and we had pictures of my bellies when I was pregnant. But I was getting tired of seeing my popped bellies, and I had a perfect opportunities to emphasise "the black and white" theme.

This idea popped out quick, I wanted to explore a typographic approach, which reminded me my beginning of design education. Why not, right? For a simple frame with a simple approach. Those are the initials of our names, Kevin, Haejin & Torin. I know it is too cute, but I couldn't help it. :-)
